Africhill successfully completed the supply, installation and commissioning of 14 large-scale cold rooms for a major cold storage development in Johannesburg.
The facility was designed to provide reliable, high-capacity temperature-controlled storage, with the refrigeration system capable of pulling down approximately 5,000 tonnes of product to the required storage temperature.
Project Scope
The development comprises 14 individual cold rooms, each measuring 22 m x 11 m x 4.5 m high. The cold rooms were constructed using 100 mm EPS insulated panels, providing an efficient thermal envelope for the temperature-controlled areas.
Africhill supplied and installed a total of 28 x 13 HP refrigeration units, with two dedicated refrigeration units serving each cold room. The refrigeration system was designed to provide the required cooling performance and sufficient capacity to pull down approximately 5,000 tonnes of product to the specified storage temperature.
